I went to see my doctor the other day for a routine check-up and he said that my liver levels were high and he?

and he wanted to have a Sonogram of my liver done and I asked the guy who did the sonogram what it meant that my liver levels were high and he said that I wouldn't understand it if he told me. Could someone please explain what liver levels are and what they mean?
