How can I persuade my church to have women elders--Lutheran Church Missouri Synod?

In my old LCMS church we had "Lay Ministers" in lieu of elders, and women could serve there. Now that I'm back at my home congregation (where I grew up), it irks me that there are no women elders, when they are fine with a woman president of the congregation. !!!???!!!
