Auditioning Songs for Rocky Horror Picture Show and Thoroughly Modern Millie?

In my experience, it's generally not a good idea to use songs from the show you're auditioning for unless it's specifically requested. However, you do want to show them that you can handle the style and range of the character you are going for. For Thoroughly Modern Millie, I would suggest something from the musical Crazy for You (it was put together in 1992 from some of the Gershwin brothers' songs). Unfortunately, Rocky Horror is a cl of its own, and I don't have any suggestions for that one! My theatre professor always says that directors can usually tell within the first thirty seconds if they can use you or not. Just relax and have fun.
