My hair is VERY thin and i have hair breakage..

its really horrible because i have really thin hair an then i got short layers and it went even thinner.. but ive only highlighted my hair blonde once and it breaks off :| but im scared incase my hair gets thinner because it breaks at the very top.. i think my hair has gone thinner but i just might be paranoid but wen i wash my hair its like all my hairs guna fall off because tha many strands come out! and even when its dry so many come out?? does anybody know how to get rid of hair breakage?? pls help :(
