Can someone name this really old nes or snes game?

I'm leaning towards UN Squadron here. It was a side-scrolling shooter in a plane. I know there were Phoenix missile upgrades, and special weapons that made you invincible. It's been rated very highly (ScrewAttack ranked it as number 1 2D shooter of all time), and was ported from the NES to the SNES in the early 90s.
