Is having a pen-pal considered old fashioned?

I never had any "official" pen pals that I signed up for or anything, but I had a couple of friends who moved away when I was in elementary and middle school, and that was before e-mail got so big, so I wrote them letters. Then, in high school, I met a guy online who lived 30 or so miles away, and I wrote him letters just because it was more tangible, and I could spray the letters with perfume, and we could see each other's handwriting, etc. Yes, I suppose it is old-fashioned, but that's what I like about it. Hey, when's the last time you ever heard about somebody inheriting a box of old e-mails out of the attic? Letters have a certain charm, and they're dying out. Go get that pen pal. =)
